Upstox Demat Account Opening Process

Upstox provides the two ways to open a Demat Account – Online and Offline.

Opening a Upstox Demat Account online is a very easy, fast, and paperless process. Get your Aadhaar card and phone number associated with the Aadhaar, fill out the documents and upload. 

In 12 – 24 hrs, you will have your Upstox Demat Account with you.

Documents for Upstox Demat Account Opening Process Online

Following is the list of the documents you will need to open the Upstox Demat Account Online

1. Aadhaar Card linked with Mobile Number
2. PAN Card
3. Income Proof (depending on the segment you choose) 
4. Address Proof: Driving license/ Voter ID/ Aadhaar Card/ Passport/ Rent Agreement (Registered)/ Latest utility bill (which has the name of the account holder)
5. Signature (on a blank paper)  
6. Your photograph.
7. Optionally, you also can upload a personalized canceled cheque or 6 months Bank statement (Bank account number, MICR code, or IFSC code should be mentioned on the Cheque)

Before you start the Demat Account Opening process, please make sure to keep a scanned copy of these documents handy to upload online. 

If your Aadhaar card and phone number are not linked, you won’t be able to open an account online.

In such a case, you will have to open Upstox Demat Account offline for futures & options, commodity, we need to provide income proof which is either 6 months bank statements or Signed salary slip or Income-tax returns an acknowledgement (ITR)/Form 16.

Step by Step Process to Open Upstox Demat Account Online

The Upstox Demat Account Opening online can be done within 10 minutes by following the simple steps shown below.

Step 1. Upstox Demat Account Sign in

To open a Upstox Account, click here on the signup link and enter your Email Id & Mobile Number then click on SEND OTP. 

Submit the OTP received on your registered mobile number to sign up.  

If you have already registered, you can click on sign in option to enter your mobile number and continue uploading documents. 

Step 2. Enter PAN in Upstox Login

You need to enter PAN Card Number & Date Of Birth here and click on next to save and move for further step

Step 3. Enter KYC and Additional Details

Fill in required KYC details with Upstox Sign in and other details like 

• Gender 
• Mother’s name 
• Annual Income 
• Political affiliation 
• Marital Status & Trading Experience.

Step 4. Choose Segment and Upstox Brokerage Plan

Select the Segments and Upstox Brokerage plan you are interested in. 

The segment should be either Equity, FO and Currency or Commodity

If you have a Upstox Coupon Code or Upstox Promo Code, apply them in the Code box to waive off Upstox charges

Step 5. Enter Bank account details

In this step, Your bank account details should be entered like IFSC Code, Bank Account Number, and select Account Type ( Savings or Current)

Upstox will do a small transfer to verify the bank account. 

Step 6. Upload Signature and income proof

Make a signature on a white paper with blue or black ink as per PAN card and upload it here. Uploading Income proof is mandatory if you wish to trade-in commodities.

For trading into  commodities, it is mandatory to upload your income proof

Step 7. Connect Digi-Locker With Upstox

In this step, you need to connect your Digilocker with Upstox.

Note: Your aadhar should be linked to your mobile number.

Step 8. Enter Address proof

Enter your address details as per details provided in the address proof document. 

Upload Front and Back Side of Aadhaar card as asked.

Step 9. Upload PANCARD and Photo

Upload a scanned copy of your PAN card and upload or click a photo of yours and Click next to move to next step

Step 10. Confirm Email id

In this step, You need to enter your email id and enter the OTP received on your email id for confirmation.

Step 11. Complete IPV

If your PAN card is not KRA verified, you need to do an IPV (in-person verification) by holding PAN card and aadhar and record a video to complete Upstox Account Opening Process

Step 12. Opt For E-sign with Aadhar OTP

After entering the details, click on “E-sign with AAdhar OTP” and enter the code on the next pop-up. 

If your aadhar is not linked with your mobile number, then Upstox will courier a pre-filled form to the address mentioned. 

Sign on each paper in the form and Upstox will schedule a pick up of the form. 

You will receive Client ID & Password after verification of your documents.

Step 13. E-sign with Aadhar

The Digio page will pop-up for E-Signing when you opt for Online Esign. You need to enter the OTP which is received on your mobile number.

Next, enter your Aadhar card number and enter the OTP received on aadhar registered mobile number and E-Sign your Upstox account opening form through Aadhar

You will receive Client ID & Password after inspecting your documents. Upstox account opening takes less than 24 working hours if completed online and it takes 7 days to get activated if couriered offline forms.

Now you are all done with the Upstox account opening process-Online.

Upstox Demat Account Opening Offline Process

To open Upstox account offline, you need to register in Upstox first by clicking here and complete account opening process by uploading documents till step 10 shown above. You need to click on “send me the courier” to get pre-filled forms.

The pre-filled forms will be couriered to your address. You have to make signatures and affix a passport size photo on it. Upstox will schedule a pickup of the signed forms 2 days after delivery.

For blank forms, you need to register in Upstox by clicking here and download equity and commodity forms by clicking here as shown in the photo below.

Take a printout of it, fill the form, and make a signature on it. 

Attach all the documents required to Open Upstox Account and courier it to Upstox head office address. 

You will receive an IPV link to your email id, to complete IPV as shown in step 12. 

Your Upstox Demat Account account will be opened within 7 business days of the day you have couriered the offline forms.
